I’d just completed the last of 13 Rock N’ Roll Marathons in the year 2010 when I noticed my nipple was extremely sore and painful to the touch. After a few weeks of soreness, I realized it wasn’t getting any better so I scheduled a doctor’s appointment and was later diagnosed with an aggressive form of Stage 4 breast cancer. It was hard to believe that I had breast cancer, but through athletes I trained to run ultra-marathons, also trained me how to be tough and fight against this incurable disease.
I won the battle with breast cancer and have been in remission since 2012. I continue to run and train athletes to help them reach unreachable goals; whether it is for a worthy cause or just completing a goal because they can.
I pray every day for a cure or even a vaccine to prevent the disease from ever happening again. For now I also continue to offer support and an ear to those going through diagnosis and treatment.
Please support me and my efforts to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation by using my personal Pinkathon SF Fundraising Page.
