The Pinkathon Adventurethon event is fun for both walkers and runners of all ages (including kids accompanied by parents) who are interested in trying something new and interesting! Distances will be 2, 4 and 6 miles.
We will form teams of 2 -6 people. Teams larger than 6 are not ideal – unless you don’t care about winning! You can form a team with your friends and family – or we can match you with other people who want to do the distance and speed. We’ll contact you with more details after you sign up. If you are signing up as a single (no friends or family or team-mates), please email us at email@example.com and we’ll put you on a team with other people!
Each team will receive a list of clues to solve which will lead them to several well-known or lesser-known interesting locations within 2-3 miles of the SF Ferry Building. After solving the clues, the teams set out to visit as many of those locations as possible and take digital group selfie photos of themselves at these locations as proof they were there. Each location has a certain point value based on the difficulty of the clue and the distance from the start/finish.
- Find the statue of the Major League Baseball Player known as the “Say Hey Kid” and take a group selfie in front of it.
- Find the San Francisco monument that resembles a fire hydrant and take a group selfie in front of it. More points if you actually go there.
Many of the clues will be harder! You are welcome to use your mobile phone to ask Google for help in solving clues.
Return to the Pinkathon Finish Line at the SF Ferry Building no later than 10 AM and submit your digital photos to the “score keepers” who will see how many points your team gets. There may be prizes for the winning team(s) – but the team adventure is a prize in and of itself! Prizes/Awards will only be given to teams whose members have made a donation to our charity using our online fundraising page, or who give us a donation check made out to “Breast Cancer Research Foundation” or “BCRF”.
Registration for the Adventurethon is FREE, but we do expect ALL participants to make a voluntary donation to our charity, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the top rated breast cancer charity in the USA. Your donations are the entire reason why we put on the Pinkathon SF. Please donate at: https://give.bcrfcure.org/2019PinkathonSF
The Pinkathon organizers, Lisa and Ellen, are both breast cancer survivors and take absolutely NO compensation for this event. 100% of your donations go directly to the charity. For every multiple of $25 you donate, you will receive 1 Pinkathon Raffle Ticket. For instance, if you donate $100, you will receive 4 Raffle Tickets. Prizes are listed Prizes & Sponsors.
